The Canada West District began in 1906 as a mission district under the Ontario District of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church. In 1907 it was organized as the Canadian Northwest District. In 1908 General Conference gave its official approval. It was incorporation under Alberta provincial statute in 1927. The name was changed to Canada West District with the merger of 1969. The District ceased to exist with the 1993 merger and was incorporated into the larger Canada West District of the EMCC.

Classes are: Acadia Valley, Athabasca, Bergen, Bowden, Cremona, Castor and Markham, Didsbury, Edmonton, Galahad, Gimlet, Hoadley, Hope Chapel, McDougal Flats, Marlborough Park, May City, Mountain View, Oriole Park, Oyen, Parkdale, Westbank, and Winfield. File was active until approximately 1980.

World Missions Board – minutes: 1953 to 1965 Church Extension; 1965-66 Foreign Missions, 1972 to 1991 incomplete. Materials on works in Vancouver, Olds, Airdrie, Westbank. 1953 to 1965 board called Church Extension. In June 17, 1965 Home Missions, Church Extension Board, and Foreign Missions Boards were united under the name World Missions. Some parallel minutes of the same meeting that don’t always agree in wording on issues discussed.
