The EMCC was created in 1993 by the merger of the Northwest Canada Conference Evangelical Church and the Missionary Church of Canada with its two districts: Canada East and Canada West. As of July 1, 2005 the EMCC restructured resulting in each district becoming a corporation whose purpose was to hold property and handle designated funds. The districts’ other responsibilities were assumed by the Denomination. In 2011 these district operations were also assumed by the Denomination and their existence subsequently ended.
This fonds collects the records of the EMCC.

The records of the Canada West District from its creation with merger in 1993, through restructuring in 2005, and to its demise with the denomination assuming its remaining responsibilities.

. Jacob Albrecht was a German farmer who organized classes for the Methodist church and saw many new converts. Some of these wished to worship in German so they formed The Evangelical Association in 1816, which steadily grew in numbers. In 1891 a group broke away and became the United Evangelical Church. However in 1922 the two groups re-united and became the Evangelical Church. It is this group that first began work in Canada forming the Canada Conference.
